Sara Jane Crow Photography

Your life is art.

I am a family documentary photographer interested in large format film and alternative processing techniques. For ease, my business work is non-ai digital. I am available for short sessions or long form family, newborn, pregnancy, and birth work. I come to photography as an experienced midwife, special needs parent, artist, hospice and psychiatric nurse, and farmer.

As a self-taught photographer, the black and white images I create reflect belonging, resilience, connection, impermanence, and beauty hidden in the mundane.

Black and white distills each moment-- emphasizing the commonplace: the supper table, laundry line, children playing... In this way, my work is a cairn leading you to your own memories and dreams, connections and childhood--the remembrance that we are of earth.

Ultimately, photography is my attempt to hold onto the ephemeral. As James Baldwin said,

"I am aware, you know, that I and the people I love may perish in the morning...but there's light on our faces now."
